Safe Kids Charlotte Mecklenburg Mission Statement :

It shall be the mission of the SAFE KIDS Charlotte-Mecklenburg to work together in a long-term, multifaceted community effort to prevent unintentional childhood injury -- the number one killer of children ages 14 and under.

Our ultimate vision is that all children who live and play in Charlotte Mecklenburg will live injury free lives.

Objectives:

1. The Coalition will raise awareness in the community that injury is the leading health threat facing children today and that injuries are not random acts, but are preventable through behavioral, environmental and legislative mechanisms.

2. The Coalition will build and maintain a Coalition of diversified individuals and organizations dedicated to creating and implementing childhood injury prevention programs in our community through continuous recruitment.

3. The Coalition will work to protect children by increasing public awareness, providing education and advocating for environmental and public policy changes to reduce the incidence of childhood injury.

4. The Coalition will focus attention on and design injury prevention strategies for children at the highest risk of injuries in our community.

5. The Coalition will promote safety awareness and injury prevention programs to children, parents and caregivers.
