Local Bicycle/Wheel Programs and Resources
Bicycle Safety Rodeos
Bicycle Rodeos are Bicycle Safety Education Programs, designed to allow for “fun while learning safety.” Bicycle Rodeos reduce the chance of Charlotte Mecklenburg losing one more child due to bicycle related injuries or death. At a Safe Kids Bicycle Rodeo, Safe Kids members teach “rules of the road,” as well as proper helmet usage for the public. Bicycle Rodeos are a Free Bicycle Safety Education service offered to the public. A rodeo is not a free bike or helmet give-a-way program. Involvement by the participant is required during a rodeo. Safe Kids accepts requests for Bicycle Safety Rodeos from Safe Kids members, primarily Police Bicycle Officers. To request a bike rodeo program, contact your area Police Bicycle Officers or Trips For Kids.
Helmet Distribution Program
Safe Kids prefers to distribute helmets to participants of Safe Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeos. However, we do accept requests from other non-profit organizations meeting the our requirements for helmet distribution. We do not guarantee helmets to any organization. Please read the Helmet Request Form for further information.
